For those in the Milwaukee area, if you pass by the Hawley & Bluemound Road area, you can see a billboard that will be up during the season of Lent. The title is “The Season of God’s Mercy.” It is part of the theme developed in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee for Lent 2010 and also the Holy Hours & Talks we are giving at Saint Vincent Pallotti Parish East Campus (5424 W. Bluemound Road) on Thursdays 6 pm to 7pm.

One of the words used to describe the process of the monthly bank statement and the checking account is to “reconcile” one with the other. It can be a very tedious undertaking. It can remind us that we can never balance our life story with God. We can’t balance the account: it is only the gift of Jesus who died for us sinners who accepts us as his adopted brothers and sisters; only in this way can we confidently say that “by the grace of God - I am who I am.”

Slowly, the winter turns to spring and then into summer. Slowly we can appreciate our need for God’s mercy and love. Have a fruitful Lent and a joyous Easter!
